Before you cancel — quick checks
Ebox has no contract requirement and no early termination fees. You can cancel anytime without penalty. This is one of the biggest reasons Quebec residents switch to Ebox from Bell or Videotron.
Before initiating cancellation, confirm three things: (1) you're cancelling for the right reason — sometimes a plan change or speed upgrade solves the problem; (2) you have your account number handy; (3) you have at least 30 days to return the modem and router.
| Provider | Contract required | Cancellation fee | Notice required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ebox | No contract | $0 | End of billing period |
| Bell | Yes (24 months) | Up to $400 | 30 days |
| Rogers | Yes (24 months) | Up to $360 | 30 days |
| Videotron | Yes (24 months) | Up to $360 | 30 days |
| Fizz | No contract | $0 | End of billing period |
Step-by-step cancellation
Note your billing cycle date
Log into your account at ebox.ca and find your billing cycle date. Ebox bills in advance, so cancelling mid-cycle doesn't refund the remaining days. Time your cancellation to align with the end of a billing period to avoid paying for service you won't use.
Contact Ebox customer service
Ebox does not allow self-serve cancellation through the website. You need to contact customer service via email or chat at ebox.ca. Phone support is not available. Provide your account number, the date you want service to end, and a brief reason (optional but courteous).
Get written confirmation
Ebox will email a cancellation confirmation within 1-2 business days. Save this email. It's your proof if billing issues arise later. Verify the cancellation date matches what you requested.
Return the modem and router
Within 30 days of cancellation, return the modem and router using the prepaid shipping label Ebox provides. Unreturned equipment is charged a replacement fee of $100-200 per device. Drop off at any Canada Post location and keep the tracking receipt.
Check your final bill
Your final invoice should show service through the cancellation date and confirm equipment return. If you see unexpected charges — such as a "non-return fee" after you've shipped the equipment — contact Ebox with your tracking number to dispute.
Common cancellation problems
"They won't let me cancel": Ebox legally must process your cancellation request. If support delays, escalate by sending a written email clearly stating your request and end date. Save the email as legal proof.
"They charged me a fee": Ebox has no early termination fees. If you see one, dispute it immediately with documentation showing no contract was signed.
"They billed me after cancellation": Check your confirmation email for the agreed end date. If the bill is for service after that date, request a refund citing the confirmation.
"They charged for equipment I returned": Provide the Canada Post tracking number. Ebox should refund the equipment fee within 1-2 billing cycles.

Reconsidering before you cancel
If you're cancelling because of speed issues, contact support first — sometimes a router restart or plan upgrade solves the problem. If you're cancelling because of cost, the basic plan with referral code OR181 saves $25 on your first month and you can revisit pricing each year as plans change.
